Earthdance

How'd it all go? Massive suceeded in putting on two events on Saturday the 18th September. Earthdance was a nice warm afternoon with a mad game of "no rules" soccer. About 40 soccer mad nuts of all ages hit the pitch. There were lots of injuries, although no one got flown out by helicopter and I have no idea what the final score was. Equinox was another story. We packed up from Earthdance about 3.30 as the weather was getting dodgy with the norwest swinging to the south and by the time we got to Kaituna Valley there were trees down over the road, power to the valley out and it was getting colder by the minute. The tent had snapped a couple of poles in the gust that brought down the trees, but was set up by the dedicated crew that missed Earthdance to ensure that the venue was ready for Equinox. Over 230 presales made us feel a bit easy about people turning up. There were even a few gate sales from mad ravers turning up in singlets and all warm in their lowered big exhaust CRXs. A wicked night, especially from 12 on as the weather cleared and the stars could be seen, as could the snow on the hills surrounding the venue.

Massive Productions have been organising parties for over nine years and have organised a few in that time. This is the first time we have attempted two in one day though. Earthdance falls on the same date as our traditional Equinox party, so to give ourselves a challenge we decided do both, in different sites on the same date.
Marcus: "We have a great crew and will not be too troubled with the logistics of moving an entire party from Victoria Park to Kiatuna Valley, 40 minutes away".
So first up, Earthdance, giving peace a dance at Victoria Park. Celebrated in over 100 cities and 50 countries, Earthdance is the world's largest dance party. Take a look at the Global Earthdance Website.
This year Massive have sent the challenge out to radio station rdu for a friendly game of soccer and turntable tackling. Playing for Massive are DJs Nazarite, Insomnaic, Sirius, Siliconbeat, Litelicks, Smurf and Incidental. Representing rduited will be Wammo and PZ.
Starting at 12 noon there will be DJs playing a selection of chilled afternoon house, dub, drum and bass and reggae. Suitable for families wanting a fun day out in the Port Hills. Free but donations will be accepted.
