Winter Soulstice
Saturday 18 June 2005, Godley Heads3 years, 5 weeks, 5 days ago
Everything we expected and more!
Despite the fact that tickets sold out early on Saturday, people turned up in droves and regrettably we once again had to turn some away. We're real sorry about that, but limiting numbers was one of the conditions of us using Godley Heads.
Thank to everyone for coming / performing / helping / dancing and once again making Winter Soulstice a Massive party. If you've got some pics we would love some more to put on the site, especially more of the DnB and Downbeat zones and the sunrise! Get in touch on the contact page.
For the first time since the end of WW2 the gun emplacements at Godley Heads on Banks Peninsula will be used for celebrating.
Massive have negotiated with DOC to secure this incredible site for our Winter Soulstice party. We have been having parties at Godley Heads for 5 years now and every year we get closer to gaining permission to use the bunker area. By having a safety plan audit and a record of safe, well managed events, DOC have given us permission to use the very end of the heads for the party.
This spot is where party-goers have ended up to view the spectacular sunrises in past years, so to be able to dance and watch the sun come up over the Pacific Ocean will be incredible. The bunkers and underground rooms will provide good shelter from any adverse weather (we are holding an outdoor party in the middle of winter) and will be used for chill out areas, smoking rooms and dance areas.
Win a 540s beanie!
Submit your answer to the following question via the Contact page:
Where can you get 540s gear in Christchurch? (hint: check the 540s website)
This prize has been given away. The answer was Cheapskates (City and The Palms), onboardnz.com and Victoria Ski and Sport.
Tickets
We must stress that this a no alcohol event and that the area has cliffs and dangerous areas. Tickets are $20 and available from the CPSA Office (Polytechnic), Hunters and Collectors in High St, Shambhala Hair Design at 209 Tuam St and Red Fish, Blue Fish in Sumner. Due to safety restrictions, tickets are limited to 400, so be sure not to miss out (we had to turn away a lot of people the last time we were at Godley Heads).
Godley Heads
It will be a great party with you there. Please read the following to fully enjoy the party. We have to get a little serious here, so bear with us.
- This is a no alcohol event. Please respect this.
- If you choose to take other highs, please respect their potency and possible side effects.
- We will not tolerate or be held liable for any foolishness.
- We are not responsible for you outside the bunker area.
- We have worked with DOC for six years and we wish to carry on using this area for future events. Please be responsible.
- This is a potentially dangerous area. Beware of holes, steep drops and slippery stairs and paths.
- Bring warm, water proof clothes and footwear.
- Bring water and food. There may be coffee and food available.
- Please don't litter. Keep the nos in the car.
- Drive safely. It is a narrow road.
If you need directions, here is a map to Godley Heads (it's the long white road on the right). Easiest way is head to Sumner (the big yellow road) and just keep going through.
If you want to find a ride out there or give someone a lift, visit the forums and make it known!
Have a great night and stay for the sunrise.

Tent: Drum and Bass
The Analog Warriors debut their personalised mobile Drum N Bass Zone at this years Winter Soulstice Party.
The Warriors recently imported a military style camo tent with the purpose of hosting renegade DnB parties. For this years Winter Soulstice party the Analog Warriors DnB Zone will be hosted in an old skool Jamaican sound clash style similar to the soundsystem parties of the original Reggae producers who owned their own eccentric soundsystems and moved them from yard to yard testing out their latest dubplates and battling it out with other rival producers. It is this hardcore do it your self ethic that has inspired the Analog Warriors to reinvent a modern renegade equivalent for the new generation of DnB Warriors.
Let the Clash begin in true underground styles!!!
