Farewell Matt Hat

The time has come, the walrus said... or at least someone said... Anyway, the time has come for Matt Robinson, aka Matt in the Hat, aka MattHat, aka Siliconbeat to head off to London, and on to the Big Wide World.

For those of you who've been unconscious for the last decade or so, Matt's been part of the dance scene in one form or another for well over 10 years now. Given how long he's actually been alive - that's a pretty mean feat. Or some really slack baby-sitting.

Matt discovered, (stumbled across?), Massive about 6 years ago. (...or so - things are a bit hazy in our archive department... ), and he's been an integral part of the Massive crew ever since.

From humble beginnings as a loyal footsoldier at the outset, carrying speakers and looking after confiscated alcohol, to running entire parties from concept to conclusion in the last few years, including bringing Infusion over from Melbourne recently, (which incidentally required the organisation of a 3 stop NZ tour to ensure it was affordable to y'all), Matt's undying, unstoppable, unadulterated, and unbelievable enthusiasm and willingness to work his ass off for the betterment of all things Massive and the wider dance scene in Christchurch, is going to be sorely missed.

Matt has always been the "go-to guy" when it comes to getting the word out about the parties, sorting all things techy, and doing whatever it takes to ensure that shit gets done so that you, - yes, you!, can enjoy yourselves stomping it up outdoors.

From the entire Massive crew and on everyone's behalf, we'd like to wish him all the best for his adventures, and thank him a thousand-fold for all the work that has made the Massive parties possible.

We will all miss his enthusiasm and madness in equal amounts.

Massive won’t be the same without you, mate. All the best, and see you in a couple of years. Or whenever the booze runs out! :)
