Live Act - Christchurch
real name: Tom and Hannah
(The) Certified Organic Sound Machine is a live electronic project from Christchurch, New Zealand consisting of me, Tom, and occasionally Hannah (the electrotech dub master). How's it going?I don't have any super anticipated upcoming releases planned, I don't have a fancy flash record label behind me and I don't have any plans to take any scene by storm. Im just a guy who likes to make tunes and give them away for free :) Seriously, there's no catch... take as much as you want. Rip, burn, copy, upload... do what you like, just let me know if your feeling it.
This of course means I get pretty much no money from my project so I still work my ass off at a day job so I can live/buy more audio toys. The only money I receive is from gigs and kind donations (made via my homepage).
I perform using a laptop, synthesizers, midi controllers and a mixing desk. I jam buttons. rip the shreds out of knobs and jump around like an idiot. I also consider myself quite seriously a live act (not one of these push play on my laptop and twiddle a knob which may or may not be linked to something of some importance live acts which I have been noticing more and more of lately ). I have set up my live performance canvas in such a way that I can truly improvise live, resulting in each set being unique.
There is a lot of thought and theory that goes into my music, which I wont dive into too much as this will end up being a 4000 word essay (with appendices) , but I do sit up late at night in front of my machines when everyone else has gone off to la la land, and ponder strange manic ideas and convert them into sound.
I have a great passion for exploring (through sound) the realms of feelings and emotions that are still built into our genes but were lost a long time ago when culture evolved and phased them out. I have studied in depth the philosophy of sound, music and rhythm appreciation and truly believe I am onto something, but I need your help! I have to constantly test my theories so they can evolve themselves, and the best way to do this is on a packed dancefloor.
