Stanier Black-Five is currently creating some of the most challenging sounds in New Zealand. Creating visceral sonic vistas in her releases and performances across the globe, this ex-UK and now Canterbury-based experimental noise artist and DJ fuses live electronics with environmental recordings – from the pounding rhythms of trains and mesmerising aircraft drones to the roar and hiss of the ocean.

Her innovative DJ sets often involve multi-turntable mayhem, using lock-grooves and customised records to carve slabs of sound from the harsh to the soothing. Expect the unexpected from her eclectic mixes where extreme electronics can meet the avant-garde, broken beats go head on with environmental recordings and psycho pop duets with op shop.

Stanier Black-Five currently hosts The Sound Mine experimental music show alternate Wednesdays on Christchurch's RDU 98.5FM from 11pm to 1am and runs the Argot Records label.
